Lindsay Reign

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Who are you?

I grew up in a time of dial-up and 'GET OFF THE INTERNET I NEED TO USE THE PHONE', and have a millennial sense of humor. I like to think I'm a connoisseur of the written word and appreciate the delicate art of arranging letters into words to create a compelling story. When I'm not wielding a pen (or keyboard, but that's not poetic), I'm wrangling an array of animals, including two geese who have accepted her into their tribe and only nibble a little. I also take pride in seeing how many plot twists my readers can handle.

What are a few of your favorite things/least favorite things?

I love southern food, dark and monster romances, & HEAs. I do not love attention and peopling.

Did you always want to be an author?

Yes and no. I always wanted to write, but I never imagined pursuing publishing.

If not, what did you want to be when you were a child?

I wanted to be a veterinarian. (I decided to be a veterinary nurse instead)

When did you know you wanted to be an author?

About 3 years ago after I got back into reading and learned about indie authors.

Besides writing, do you have any hobbies? Do any of your characters share the same interests as you?

What are hobbies?! jk. I am getting into cosplay. I also love to immerse myself in fanfiction.

Do you have anything that you’re truly passionate about outside of writing? (Could be a cause, a project, etc.)

I work with animals

How long have you been writing?

Since I was 13 years old, but I stopped for a while and picked it back up in 2023.

Which genres do you write in?

Romance. All the romance. PNR, monster, sports, dark, why choose, mafia. If there's smut, I'll write it.

Are you independently published or traditionally published? Why did you choose this route? What are the benefits/drawbacks?

Independently. It's hard to get into trad, plus my writing isn't for everyone and I don't want to be put in a box. It is harder to find readers and promote this way though.

What do you enjoy most and least about being an author?

Marketing. I hate it. Also, deadlines. I love being able to take liberties with my imagination and paint my own worlds.

Are you a plotter, a plantser, or a pantser?

Plantser...ish... but starting to lean toward pantser.

Do you have any writing routines (things you do that help you write)?

playlists! Character development/design. Also, reading similar themes prior to starting. And researching lore.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

I punish the characters in my head by ignoring them for about 7 days.

How many WIPs do you have going right now? Can you tell us anything about them?

It's hard to remember, but at least 6.

How many books do you currently have published? Tell us about them.

11 published. All romance. I have 3 holiday alien novellas, a Christmas shifter novella, a mafia/why choose duet. A 4 book rugby standalone.

Where do you get the inspiration for your books? Do you insert pieces of yourself and people you know into your books?

I do insert myself. I also get inspiration randomly from my environment as well as my current reads.

Are there any other authors who have inspired you?

January Rayne

Aiden Pierce

Tiffany Roberts

Do you prefer standalone books or book series?

standalones. ADHD is a b*@&$. Unless it's a series of standalones - those are fine.

Do you have a favorite and least favorite of your characters? Why?

The queen and the knave are my least favorite (Wonderland). My most favorites are Alex (Wonderland) and Dom (Power Play).

What is your most popular book?

Christmas Rut - reindeer shifters with fancy peens.

Which of your books do you wish received more love than it does?

The Dead Man's Hand Duet.

How do you handle the author/life balance? (i.e. writing/editing/graphic design/home life/etc.)

I don't. lol jk - I write at night and on my lunch break. I have an editor. My graphics are simple.

What do you do for your mental health and to recharge your creativity?

I take breaks from writing and my computer.

Do you have any advice for unpublished writers or people who hope to become authors?

WRITE THE THINGS! It doesn't matter if there's not a niche for it, just do it.

What was your most recent five-star read?

Lights out by Navessa Allen (again)
